Sandra "Sandi" Weitzel

Sandra Kay Weitzel, 75, of Albert Lea took the Lord’s hand on June 5, 2020.

A private family service will be held. Private burial will take place in the Hillcrest Cemetery of Albert Lea.

Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family. An online guestbook and filming of the service will be uploaded to the Funeral Home website.

Sandra was born July 22, 1944 to Orlando and Clarine (Frosager) Twetten in Albert Lea. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran church and graduated with the class of 1962 from Albert Lea High School.

On March 10, 1963 Sandi married Norbert Weitzel at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and raised their family in Albert Lea.

Sandi was a nurse’s aide in the area for over 30 years. She had a heart for helping others and enjoyed her time working at St. John’s and Thorne Crest in Albert Lea. She retired as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2009 from Health Reach.

She enjoyed coffee with friends and going out whenever she could! Flying with Norb brought her great joy and she loved trips to Laughlin, Nevada. Playing bingo and cards with her card club and the “Tub Club” and moments watching nature were also enjoyed. She was a loving and caring mother and grandma, who was always present at family holidays and school activities.

Her generous spirit and strong faith will be missed by many, as well as her unlimited supply of Wintergreen mints!

Sandi is survived by her husband of 57 years, Norb; son, Kevin (Tami) Weitzel of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Dane Weitzel of Wells and Jaclyn Weitzel of Madison, WI; sister, Beth Rheinfels of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews, Joette, Kathy, Rick, Kindra, Brian and Brandon, along with their families. sister-in-law, Jeanine (Ron) Day, and special cousin, Beverly (Larry) Wolff and many other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant children, Brad and Cindy; sister, Julie Bure; niece, Brenda Mellang; nephew, Wrey Frechette; in-laws, Ben and Beulah Weitzel and brother-in-law, Raymond Weitzel.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.  Blessed be her memory.
