Mary "Rita" Johnson

Mary was born on May 22nd, 1936 to Eliceo Perez and Josephine Hernandez. She Married Stanley Melvin Johnson on May 26th, 1970 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They raised nine children together.

Mary worked hard her whole life working in cotton, bean fields and Delgado’s potato farm. She also worked in factories such as Land O’Lakes, Queens and finally at the Albert Lea Tribune before retiring.

Mary’s most precious thing in life was her family and God. She loved to travel, dance and sing. She also enjoyed having friends and family over to play cards. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her sons, Joe Ramirez, Donald Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez, Mike (Marie) Johnson, Jon Johnson and daughters, Esther (Luis) Martinez, Rachel Ramirez, Michelle (Kenneth) Johnson and sister Isabelle Villereal and brother Rueben. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Josephine and Eliceo Perez, Sons, Richard Ramirez and David Ramirez, Sisters Lupe Ramos and Virginia Egness. Brothers Eliceo Jr., Richard, Ray and Philip Perez. Granddaughter Jamie Gonzalez and Grandsons Ronald Jr. Gonzalez and Nick Ramirez.

A visitation will take place Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at Bonnerup Funeral Service.  Time for visiting will also take place from 10:00am-11:00am on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Theodore Catholic Church with Funeral Mass starting at 11:00am.  Father Kurt Farrell will officiate.  Interment will follow at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
