LoAnn Dyrdal

Memorial services for LoAnn Dyrdal of Albert Lea, MN will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Todd Walsh will officiate. Friends may greet the family Friday evening from 4 until 7 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery.
LoAnn died Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Minnesota Masonic Nursing Home in New Hope, MN, following complications of Alzheimer's. She was 81 years of age.
LoAnn was born August 19, 1929 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of Clarence R. and Eunice G. (Dowd) Johnson. She attended school in Minneapolis for six years and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1947. On December 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Andrew Dyrdal at the Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
LoAnn was very active in the First Lutheran Church for many years teaching Sunday school, Bible School and on the Church Council. She also was active in the Bethel Bible Studies. She was employed for a time with the REA until 1954, enjoyed her time as a homemaker then worked as church secretary both at First Lutheran and Salem Lutheran Church.
LoAnn enjoyed volunteering in the community including PTA President at Ramsey School, Preschool Vision and Hearing Specialist and teacher, and the board of directors at St John's Lutheran Home. She loved dancing, walking and biking, travel with Andy, writing (family stories and journals) and scrapbooking. LoAnn was very outgoing and friendly and a huge Albert Lea Tiger and Minnesota Gophers Fan. LoAnn and Andy traveled to many games over the years. In the early years, she also loved to go to the Minneapolis Lakers Games.
LoAnn is survived by her husband Andrew of Albert Lea, MN, sons Jay and his wife Kathy Dyrdal of Albert Lea, MN and Tom Dyrdal of Albert Lea, MN. Grandchildren include; Andrew Dyrdal and his special friend Rachel Barkel, Karey Dyrdal, Laura Dyrdal and Mike Dyrdal. One sister survives; Jackie McKay of Minnetonka, MN, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Eunice and one brother in law Don McKay.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are preferred to donor's choice.
