Elwood Hagen

Elwood Grant Hagen of Albert Lea was born on June 29, 1938, in Rural Albert Lea, the son of Bert G. and Anna (Sheppherd) Hagen. Elwood served our country in the U.S. Army from Dec of 1961- December 1963. He was united in marriage to Marlys A. Johnson on September 19, 1959, in Albert Lea. Elwood worked as a cement finisher for Dickema and Lunda Construction for more than 41 years before retiring. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and the Moose and Eagles’ clubs. Elwood enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, baseball & Nascar in his free time. Elwood died peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, May 1, 2020.  He was 81.

Elwood will be greatly missed by his wife Marlys, his children: Lori Miller of Rochester, MN, Kristine (Steve) Lee, and Daniel Hagen, both of Albert Lea, niece Jacqueline (Jerry) Valenzuela and children Jamison and Jasmine of Phoenix, AZ;  grandchildren: Blake (Alyssa) Andersen of Mpls, MN, Chase Andersen of Rochester, MN, Alexa Miller of Rochester, MN, Makenzie Johnson of CO, Katelyn Lee of Albert Lea; siblings Betty Hanna of Lake Mills, IA, , Nola Thibodeau of Freemont, NE , Nylene (Gilman) Thompson of Twin Lakes, MN,  Bernette Nelson of  Alden, MN, Dellan Hagen of Albert Lea,  Glen (Louise) Hagen of Albert Lea and Bernard (Cheryl) Hagen of Albert Lea,  MN, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Anna Hagen and his brothers Everett and Gary.

At Elwood’s request, services will be private.  Memories and condolences may be left here on our website or cards  may be sent in care of the family to Bonnerup Funeral Service 2210 East Main, Albert Lea, MN  56007
