Zachary "Zach" Andrew Paulsen

September 11, 1999 — February 29, 2024

Albert Lea

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Zachary “Zach” Andrew Paulsen, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who departed from this world on February 29, 2024, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Born on September 11, 1999, to Milton III and Shannon (Brecke) Paulsen, Zachary brought love and joy to those around him throughout his life.

Zach's journey began in Albert Lea, where he attended school and grew up as a mischievous yet lovable boy, always barefoot, playing hockey, Tae Kwando, and visiting with neighbors. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and later in life he found solace in sharing his faith with close friends and family. Throughout his life, Zach held various jobs, with his most recent position as a forklift operator at Larson Manufacturing.

As a child, Zach discovered his passion for fishing, a love passed on by his Grandma and Grandpa Blom, but always keeping his secret fishing spots close to his heart. Despite the challenges he faced, Zach never let his Epilepsy hinder his spirit, continuing to embrace life with courage and resilience. His love for grilling, particularly his renowned pork chops, always left everyone in awe, wondering about the secret behind his perfect meal.

A compassionate soul, Zach treasured his role as Uncle Zachie, spoiling his niece and nephew with endless love and affection and proudly being the best gift giver for special occasions. He shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings, playing board games, movie nights, and shared experiences. In his free time, Zach enjoyed airsoft competitions with friends. Zach's warm heart and unwavering love extended to all, without judgment, making his circle of friends strong and enduring. His cat, Rosie, held a special place in his heart, showered with love and an abundance of cat toys.

Zach, a young man with a heart as big as his smile, lived his life selflessly, always putting others before himself and never missing an opportunity to show kindness and love without judgment. His compassion knew no bounds, and he embraced everyone for who they were, fostering deep connections and leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Zach will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Milt and Shannon; sister, Ashley (Matthew) Wacholz; brother, Wyatt Paulsen; niece and nephew, Ava and Mason; grandparents, Milton Paulsen Jr. and Doug and Dorothy Blom; great-grandma, Cecelia Brecke; his special cat, Rosie; along with many beloved family members.

Zach was preceded in death by his grandparents, Belinda Brecke and Elaine Paulsen and great-grandpa, Jim Brecke.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Church in Albert Lea, MN; Pastor Jeff Phelps will officiate.  Zach’s family will greet guests at a visitation on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services and one hour prior to the service at the church.
