Viola Deloris Krogsgaard, age 96, of Ferryville, Wisconsin, formerly of Freeborn, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Albert Lea.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 23 at 10:00 AM until time of memorial service at 11:00 AM at West Freeborn Lutheran Church, 695th Ave, Hartland, MN. Following the memorial service, Viola will be laid to rest beside her husband Vernon in the West Freeborn Cemetery.
Viola was the second of eleven children to Benhardt and Elizabeth (Ehlers) Webber. She married her husband Vernon in North Dakota on September 29, 1948. Together they had six children; Robert, Steven, Ronald, Joan, Beth, and David. The family settled in rural Freeborn, Minnesota in 1965.
For Viola, the coffee pot was always on and there were always cookies to be shared. She gave so much of herself to her community, and was not one to sit idle.
Viola was a well-regarded member of the West Freeborn Lutheran Church. After moving to Wisconsin, she attended Freeman Lutheran Church in Ferryville. She was devout in her faith, and truly cherished her relationship with God.
Viola loved to garden and had an excessively green thumb. She was known to nurse plants back to great health and most recently had planted fresh pea seeds in some raised beds in her garden. She could also crochet up a storm, and to say she enjoyed quilting would be an understatement. She would regularly make quilts with her group at church, and to be donated to the Veteran's Administration. A proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, as well as the Freeborn Historical Society, Viola was awarded the Freeborn County Volunteer of the Year award in 2012.
Viola is survived by her children Robert (Mary) Krogsgaard, Steven (Renee) Krogsgaard, Ronald Krogsgaard, Joan (David) Nelson, Beth (Kerry) Pickering, and David Krogsgaard; her grandchildren Tracy, Laura, Emily, Megan, Erin, Christopher, Carissa, and Jolene; her 12 great-grandchildren; her 36 nieces and nephews; and her siblings Elaine Adams, Agnes (Earl) Weisner, Allen Webber, Dorothy Webber, and Donald (Lily) Webber.
She was preceded in death by her parents Benhardt and Elizabeth Webber, her husband Vernon Krogsgaard, and her siblings Florence Webber, Deloris Webber, Bernard Webber, John Webber, and Joyce (Rodney) Swanson.
She will forever live on in the stories and memories of all who knew and loved her.
