Shawn Freeman

Jul 17, 1985 — Jun 9, 2026

Shawn Allen Freeman, age 40, passed away June 9, 2026. A celebration of life will be held from 2 PM to 8 PM on July 17, 2026 at the Edgewater Bay New Pavilion on Fountain Lake in Albert Lea.

Shawn was born on July 17, 1985, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Allen and Cheryl (Busall) Freeman. He grew up and received his schooling in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 2004. Through recovery, in April 2010, he met Stephani Adams. They made their home in Albert Lea where Shawn was employed at jobs like Alamco & Interstate Packaging. Until he followed his passion to be a truck driver. He worked over the road for a year with Beusings trucking Inc until he decided to be home more and became a proud driver for Waste Management.

On November 17, 2017 their little girl Ella Marie Freeman was born.

On September 4, 2021, the couple was united in marriage.

Shawn absolutely enjoyed building things with wood, landscaping, construction, being outdoors, and wanted to make a wood shop in the garage. He built the kids sandbox in the backyard with the benches attached and made his wife a raised garden bed. He wanted to make cat trees for everyone. Shawn enjoyed music. We listened to a lot of music and we danced.

We skateboarded, played with rc cars, rode bikes, flew kites together, went on many trips and adventures. Shawn was an artist. He loved to draw just like his little girl and just like his kids. We did a lot of art together. If he put his mind to do something, he did it. He also took flying lessons and had a love of astronomy. He was so good at everything, especially being a dad to his daughter, step daughter, and his step son. He was a family man and he was the best family man, husband, son-in-law, uncle, brother, and friend. He would do anything for anyone. He cared for all the kids and he protected us all. He believed in Jesus and in being good human being. Shawn made everything a party and he made everything fun.

He worked at Hy-Vee as a teenager. He loved driving a truck but always wanted to be home with his family. Shawn’s legacy was his kids and his family. He was always striving to be a good human being and always wanted everyone to get along. He Was Love. Blessed be his memory.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard & Lilas (Hagan)Freeman; maternal grandparents, Michael & Doris Busall; aunts and uncles, Mar, Dave & Don Freeman and Jim Busall; cousin Ryan Donahue.
