Sandra "Sandy" Kay Lestrud

Sandra “Sandy” K (Lang) Lestrud, 77, passed away on April 8, 2026 with her daughter's and her dogs at her side.

Sandy was born on January 31, 1949, to Richard and Betty (Betow) Lang, Sandy was the first of seven children. Sandy attended Glenville High School until seventh grade, when her family moved to Albert Lea. Sandy attended Glenville Lutheran Church where she was confirmed.

Sandy married Gary Jensen in 1965, they had four children together: Kathy Talamantes, Brenda Wyant, Tamara Praska & Michael. Kathy's children are Stephanie Talamantes, Ryan & Nicole Talamantes, There children are Lilly, Rowen, Ryker & Sereana. Brenda had Adam (Cherie) Wyant. Adam's children are Jacob (Emily) & Anthony. Grandchildren are Oakley, Asher & Anthony. Tamara's children are Christa, Joseph & Brandon. Grandchildren Lilliana, Mikkal, James, Navaeh, Evelyn, Aviannah, Chevie, Jerimiah. Michael's children are Krystal, Mitchel & Anthony.

Later in her years she married Richard Lestrud where they lived in Albert Lea together.

Sandy worked as a data entry person, delivered shopper for years, Kwik Trip, and retired from Diamond Joe’s Casino. Sandy had many special moments with her grandchildren when they would go with her on her shopper route. Where they picked wildflowers & cattails. Where she taught them all the backroads. Her special bonds will never be forgotten.

Sandy believed in her faith. She was a very kindhearted & loving person. Sandy always had a tight loving hug. Grandma's hugs were always special to everyone. She always had time to lend an ear to listen: openly and nonjudgmentally. She was very accepting of people. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion that will continue to inspire those who knew her and loved her.

Sandy is survived by her daughters Kathy Talamantes, Brenda Wyant; her grandchildren Adam (Cherie), Stephanie, Ryan, Nicole, Christa, Joseph & Brandon, Krystal, Mitchel, Anthony; her great-grandchildren: Jacob, Anthony, Lilly, James, Anna, Rowan, Ryker, Nevaeh, Evelyn, Aviannah, Jerimiah, Sereana, Lilliana, Mikkal, Chevie, and many more; her great-great-grandchildren: Oakley, Asher & Anthony; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Sandy was proceeded in death by her husbands Richard Lestrud and Gary Jensen; two of her children, Tamara and Michael; her grandchildren Christa Moffit and Joseph Roberts; a great-granddaughter; her parents Richard and Betty (Betow) Lang; and many aunts and uncles.

A memorial service to honor her life will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 1 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation, 2210 East Main Street, Albert Leas, 56007. A public visitation will take place the hour prior, beginning at 12 PM Noon. Following services, Sandy will be laid to rest in Geneva Cemetery.
