Ruth Ann Smith

Ruth Ann Smith Monson, 86, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, passed away in the early morning of Monday, March 9, 2026.

Ruth was born on June 14, 1939 in Albert Lea to Theadore and Estella Monson. Ruth and Earl Smith were married on October 3, 1964 in South Dakota. The two were blessed with three children; Marie, LuAnn, and Kevin. Ruth had a long and happy career at Streater's in Albert Lea, where she held many positions over the course of her twenty-four years there.

Ruth's memory will be carried by her two daughters: Marie Shopa, LuAnn (Reed Neiderstadt) Berg; her grandchildren: Dawn (Monroe) Warren, Carol Taylor, Shawn Johnson, Travis (Kristen) Boetcher, Tyler Boetcher, and many great-grandchildren; her siblings: Larry Monson, and Alice Swenson; and many family friends and extended relatives.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Earl Duane Smith; her son Kevin Boettcher; her great-grandson Billy Warren; her father and mother, Theadore and Estella Monson; siblings: Theadore Monson, Russell Monson, Thomas Monson, Curtis Monson, and Cheryl Monson.

Ruth's family will be having a service to celebrate her memory at a later date.
