Russell A Wignes

Russell A Wignes of Albert Lea, MN, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 19, 2024, at Whispering Oaks Place in Ellendale, MN.

Russell graduated from Northwood High School and later furthered his education at Hamilton Business College in Mason City, where he obtained a degree in accounting. On January 22, 1955, he exchanged vows with his high school sweetheart, Maxine Odden, at First Lutheran Church in Northwood. Russell began his professional career at Streaters in Albert Lea as an accountant, eventually rising to the position of Vice President of Finance before retiring in 1998.

A faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN, Russell found solace in his faith and community. He took pleasure in leisurely rounds of golf and family fishing trips to Northern Minnesota.

Russell will be remembered by his wife, Maxine of 69 years; children, David (Luann Rose) Wignes and Ann Henderson; grandchildren, Hugh (Jennifer) Rose and Andrew Rose; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Luca; four sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and many sisters and brothers-in-law.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Stateline Cemetery in Northwood, Iowa.
