She was born on November 13, 1955, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Carl “Buck” and Jean Schumaker. She was the oldest of 4 siblings. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1974. Roxy was the Tiger mascot and wore those stripes proudly. She was known as a social butterfly and had many friends that she would still frequently meet with and shared many laughs together.
Roxy married the love of her life, Peter “Bud” Habana on February 14th, 1975, and together they had 4 children – Braden, Cody, Carly, and Haley. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year making it a very special Valentine’s Day.
She enjoyed playing in volleyball league, bowling, and golf. She also cherished her time spent at Beaver Lake where her family spent many years making memories.
Roxy worked at “Alpha Enterprises” and then she found her true calling and opened her in-home daycare, “Roxy’s Romper Room”. She had a way of making everyone feel love and accepted; a “mom” for so many throughout the years.
At the age of 50, she experienced some health problems that were significantly challenging. But Roxy was resilient and determined overcoming adversity. Even with her most recent diagnosis Roxy remained a positive influence on all.
Roxy loved her family, especially her kids and grandkids. She was their biggest fan and always cheering them on whether it was their sporting events or life milestones.
It didn’t matter who you were, if she knew you or not, Roxy had a way of making you feel special. She always had a big hug for everyone and an even bigger heart. She spent the last year making many friends at Bridgewater in Owatonna and was able to take advantage of every moment she could there.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl “Buck” and Jean Schumaker; and grandparents Floyd “Lefty” and Hazel Heilman.
She leaves behind her husband, Peter “Bud” Habana, Jr., along with her children: Braden Habana, Cody (Cher) Habana, Carly (Josh Kelley) Habana, and Haley (David Luna) Habana. Roxy was also the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Chloe, Carsyn, and Croix Habana, Jersie, Kale, Reagan, and Syler Kelley, and Gracie and Brecken Luna. Roxy is also survived by her sisters, Robin “Auntie” (Rick), Ronae “Na Na”, as well as her brother, Rory "Pete” (Janet) Schumaker as well as brother/sisters in law, Bradley (Julie) Habana, Charlotte “Sis” (Mike) Bongartz, John (Janice) Habana, and Bryan “Charly” Habana. Along with her many nieces and nephews in which she loved as her own.
In lieu of flowers the family requests you make donations to the Geneva Cancer Auction.
