Ronald James Benson

Ronald James Benson passed away on May 28, 2024, at the U of M Hospital, Cardiac Unit, Minneapolis.

Ron was born July 15, 1970, in Albert Lea to Russ and Peggy Benson. He attended Albert Lea Schools. Ron worked at Farmstead Foods and other factories as a mechanic. He was an excellent auto mechanic and had a knack for fixing anything that didn’t work. We remember back when he was quite the comic and could always make you laugh.

Ron is survived by his dad, Russ (Jennifer) Benson, and sister, Sandy Roe; daughters, Heidi Heavner, Taylor Tiedemann, Emily Benson, Maci Benson, and Gabrielle (Gabby) Benson; Gabby’s sisters, Haley, Madison, and Skyler; grandchildren, Alyssa, Brexton, Kole, Bane, and Clarke. Ron is also survived by his wife of 27 years, Melanie Jo Benson, brothers-in-law, Walter, Fred and Donald, Jr.; sisters-in-law, LuAnn (Mark) and Patty Ress, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Preceding Ron in death are Ron’s mother, Peggy; brother, Bob; grandparents; and infant son, Ronald, Jr.; mother and father-in-law, JoAnn and Donald Ress; and brothers-in-law, William, Gerald, and John.

A celebration of life will be held June 29th, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Vineyard Church, Highway 69 South across from Pickerel Lake.
