Funeral Services for Roger E. Dahl, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Reverend Janet White will officiate. Interment will be in East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church. Roger Ellsworth Dahl was born on October 11, 1929, in Freeborn County, the son of Alvin and Vivian(Overgaard) Dahl. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School and served his country in the Korean War. On March 9, 1949, he was united in marriage to Arladeen Iverson in Albert Lea, MN. Roger was a fireman with the Albert Lea Fire Department for more than 30 years before retiring. Roger and Arla spent many years wintering in Mission, TX, where they enjoyed the company of friends. Rogers passions were golfing and fishing and he enjoyed working in their Malt and Footlong stand at the Freeborn County Fair. Roger was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Roger died on Friday, May 6, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Albert Lea. He was 86. Roger is survived by daughter Kathy and her husband Dave Medd of Hollandale, and their children John (Roxanne) Medd and their son Logan of Albert Lea, Laurie (Allan) Greibrok and their children Katelyn and Braden of Austin; daughter Mary and her husband Mark Christopherson of Mantorville; and their children Andene (Sean) O'Neil of Minneapolis, MN, and their children Lincoln and Etta, Alexandra (Reid) Strelow and their children Gus, Tell and Blaze of Duluth, MN, Peter (Katy) Christopherson of Rochester, MN; sister Carolyn Schmitz of Albert Lea, sister-in-law Jeanine Dahl of Albert Lea, brother-in-law Larry Phillips of Oak Park Heights, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Vivian Dahl, his wife Arla, daughter Paula, brothers
Paul and Alton, sister Gloria Seberson and infant sister Marjorie.
Roger loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family who loved him dearly.
