Richard "Hank" Davis, 88, of Albert Lea, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at his home in Albert Lea.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM at church. The family will also receive friends at a visitation to be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 5:00-7:00PM at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services. The service will be livestreamed.
Hank was born on November 16, 1937, in Albert Lea to the late William Christian and Lida Louise Amelia (Pfahning) Davis. He attended country school and was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Hank was a hardworking man who could do just about anything. Throughout his working years, he was employed as a welder at Universal, worked in his father-in-law’s minnow business, helped at his brother Bud’s body shop, and later worked at Wilson & Company (formerly Farmstead) before retiring in the 2000s. Even after retirement, Hank was always willing to lend a hand. He helped friends and family with roofing and odd jobs and spent time picking apples. If something needed fixing, he was often the person people called.
Hank enjoyed a life filled with hard work, family, and the outdoors. He loved bowling and playing softball, badminton, and horseshoes. He especially enjoyed working on family vehicles and had many talents, including butchering beef, pork, and chickens and dehorning cattle. He loved hunting deer, ducks, and pheasants, as well as fishing and ice fishing. Some of his favorite memories were made at the family cabin in Aitkin, where he and his family enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River and nearby lakes, bonfires, barbecues, and time together.
Hank had a generous heart and cared deeply for his family and friends. He also had a special place in his heart for cats. His family will fondly remember celebrating his birthday together each year with a special meal at Casa Zamora.
Those left to cherish Hank’s memory include his children, Randy Davis, Debra (Marc) Fisher, and Ronny Davis; grandchildren, Nick (Ricki) Davis, Alicia (John) Schulthies, Anton and Alex Fischer, Cassie (Travis) Payne, Jason Davis, Josh (Shannon) Clark, and Matthew and Zachary Clark; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, sisters, Audrey Johannsen and family, and Sharon (Jim) Olson and family; as well as the Johnson, Lee, and Davis families.
In addition to his parents, William and Lida Davis, Hank was preceded in death by a daughter, Darla Clark, two great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Harriet Johnson, Eleanor Lee, Wayne Davis, Harland Davis, Harold Davis, and Evelyn Guerneu.
