Remembering Oliver Merlin Roesler...
The Funeral Service for Oliver "Ole" Merlin Roesler will be held at
11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the Vista Evangelical Covenant
Church, rural New Richland. Pastor Richard Williams and Pastor Lyndon Roesler
will officiate. Interment will be in Vista Covenant Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the New Richland American Legion. Visitation will be from
4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. on Monday at Friedrich Funeral Home New Richland and
one hour before the service at the church.
Oliver "Ole" was born on March 30, 1920, to Ben and Ella (Miller) Roesler at
Waseca, MN. He attended rural Wilton School. He worked at the Otisco Creamery
for 6 years. He married Vivian Peterson on May 2, 1942. He served in the
Army Air Corp as a mechanic from October 1942 to November 1945. He and Vivian started farming the Peterson farm the spring of 1946. He retired and her and Vivian moved to New Richland in 1982. He still helped on the farm. He enjoyed horseshoe, golf, camping and traveling.
They wintered in Texas for 18 years. He also served on the New Richland School
Board for 17 years and was a member of Vista Covenant Church where he had held several postions including trustee, deacon, chairman, Sunday
School Teacher. He served as a Gideon from 1974 until 2002. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He died on Friday, January 14, 2005 at the New Richland Care Center, he was 84.
Ole is survived by his wife Vivian of 62 years and three children: son Dennis Roesler and his wife Virginia of New Richland, daughters Sharon and her husband Mylon Robran of Waseca and Laurie and her husband Keith Hendrickson of New Richland;
Grandchildren: Karla and her husband Grant Wells of Apple Valley, MN,
Michael Roesler and his wife Becky of Brooklyn Park, MN., Eric Roesler and his wife Amy of Golden Valley, MN., JoAnn Roesler of New Hope,Torrun and her husband Tim Nelson of New Richland, MN., Todd Robran and his wife Britta of Ottawa, ILL., Brian Robran of Mpls., MN, Tami and her husband Mark Langlois of Denver, CO., Jared Hendrickson serving in Afghanistan,
Lindsey Hendrickson of Minneapolis, MN, Jessica Hendrickson of Winona, MN,
great grandchildren Anna, Jonah, Ella, Alexandra, David, Ashley, and Megan; sister: Dorothy Heil and her husband Al of Owatonna, brother-in-law Charles Knudsen of St. Paul, sisters-in-law Erma Roesler of Waseca, Norine Roesler of Waseca, Gloria Peterson of Faribault, aunt Nellie R. Roesler of CA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Ella Roesler, daughter Marcia,
brothers Rollins and Emerson Roesler, sister Irell Knudsen, father-in-law and
mother-in-law Edgar and Lillian Peterson and brother-in-law Lowell Peterson.
He loved everybody and was a friend to all. He will be missed by his family and friends.
