Nancy Jane Schwarz
December 27, 1939 – June 21, 2026
Nancy Jane (Olson) Schwarz, 86, of Albert L passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026 in her home with her children by her side.
Born on December 27, 1939 in Albert Lea, MN, Nancy was the daughter of Truman (Casey) Olson and Deloris (Rebbe) Olson. She was the second child of seven often caring for the younger children as well as teaching them to be mischievous.
Nancy attended Albert Lea Schools, and at the young age of 17 married Joel Schwarz. In 1962 they purchased the home with five acres that was Nancy’s forever home, her pride and joy and her personal event center, as she loved inviting family and friends for picnics and bon fires. Joel and Nancy divorced in 1976.
Nancy was employed by Wilson & Co/Farmstead Foods until the end of its operation. She spent many years working multiple jobs around the Albert Lea area with her favorite being the karaoke gal at a local bar. Her love for music was deep; the 8 track tapes played non-stop in our home. Patsy Cline, Glen Campbell, Charlie Pride and Ronnie Milsap kept her singing and dancing through life. Her last years of employment were with Mayo Clinic in housekeeping. She always told the doctors that she “used to clean this room” as if it entitled her to special care. Her spicey and blunt personality was undeniable. However, she also had a heart of gold and was a very generous. Her happiest times were being Grandma. It was an adventure for the grandkids to spend time with Grandma Nancy, and they were often sent home with instructions to not tell mom what their day consisted of.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Annette Crabtree (Jay) of Glenville, MN; daughter Jayne Robertson (Brian) of Reno, NV; son Jason Schwarz (Cory) of Faribault, MN. Grandchildren Matthew Schwarz (Katie), Erica Schwarz, Carly Schmitz, Ali Grossman(Luke), Jenna Higginbothum, Nicole Higginbothum, Beckham Robertson, Isabella Robertson, Joshua Schwarz, Katie Schwarz (Shayne Forthun), and great grandchildren Polly, Luella, Milo and Finlee; siblings Janice Hershey (Kent); William Olson (Rita); Linda Petersen; sister-in-law Carol Olson and brother-in-law Kenneth Sorensen. She was preceded in death by her parents Truman and Deloris Olson; son, Mark Schwarz, and sibling David Olson, Ronald Olson and Dianne Sorensen.
Thank you to all the staff at Austin Mayo Hospital that worked so hard for Nancy for two weeks and the wonderful, caring staff of St Croix Hospice.
