It is with profound sadness and deep reverence that we announce the passing of Nadiene Carrie (Dale) Olson, who departed this life peacefully at her home in Glenville, MN on October 27, surrounded by her loving family and her cherished friend, Silvia Ortiz. She was 91 years old.
Nadiene was born on December 10, 1933, in Albert Lea, MN to Grace and Orven Dale. She grew up in Albert Lea and was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. On April 24, 1955, Nadiene married Roger Emil Olson, the love of her life, with whom she shared a rich history. In her words they “grew up together, attending Bible Camp, confirmation, and high school.” Their union blossomed into a beautiful family, as they raised their children with unwavering love and care.
A proud member of the Albert Lea High School class of 1951, Nadiene served as editor of the school newspaper, the AHLAHASA, showcasing her talent for writing early on. Her career path began with a position at the Albert Lea Tribune, contributing to the Social Happenings Column. She furthered her education at the University of Minnesota, and the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis where she earned a degree as a Medical Technician.
An avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, Nadiene's intellectual curiosity never waned. She found delight in the simple pleasures of life, including games of Scrabble, which she relished with family and friends. She also found great joy in making quilts, many of which she donated to new mothers through various organizations. Her skilled cross-stitch creations were another artistic talent of hers, along with her culinary and hosting talents, which she passed down to her children. Her turkey dinners, a family favorite, brought those she loved together around the table.
Nadiene's life was steeped in faith and service, actively participating in every church community she became a part of. Her church family at First Presbyterian Church served as both a source of strength and joy throughout her life. More than anything, Nadiene exemplified a life of faith, love, and resilience. Her legacy is one of a woman who loved Jesus fiercely and shared her faith with others. She will be deeply missed for her quiet strength and joyful spirit.
Nadiene is survived by her children: Michael Olson, Nancy (Dan) Wrolson, Carrie (David) Paulson, and Philip (Laura) Olson; her grandchildren: Lauren Olson, Lamar (Natalie) Olson, Paul Wrolson, Emily Wrolson, Isaac (Sara) Paulson, and Benjamin (Vanessa) Paulson, Nicholas Olson and Ellen (Facundo) Rodriguez; as well as her great grandchildren: Oliver, Darby, Calvin, Waylon, Kaylee, Nova, Memphis, Henry, Charles, Adalie and Liam; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who carry forth her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Roger Olson; her her beloved parents, Grace and Orven Dale; and her brother Sidney Dale.
The family of Nadiene would like to extend a special thank you to Silvia Ortiz and Mayo Clinic Hospice for the excellent care they provided Nadiene these past few months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Nadiene's honor to First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea, MN, or to the Ecumenical Food Pantry.
A funeral service to celebrate Nadiene’s life will be held on November 22, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea, MN. Visitation will commence at 10 AM, followed by services at 11 AM, officiated by Reverend Charles Teixeira. Her family invites all who knew and loved Nadiene to join in honoring her. Let us rejoice in the knowledge of the glorious homecoming she has entered, and may the memories of her life inspire us every day.
