The funeral service for Mildred Orma Schmidt of 2404 S.E. Marshall, Albert Lea, Minnesota will be 2:00p.m. Sunday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake. The Reverend Karen Behling will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.
Mildred died Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota. She was 83 years old.
Mildred Orma (Tollefson) Schmidt was born February 22, 1920 in Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was the youngest of seven children born to Oliver and Ida (Morland) Tollefson. She was raised by her great aunt and uncle Ole and Margaret Helgeson on a farm near Lake Mills, Iowa. On April 29, 1945 she married Ernest Schmidt. Mildred was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake and belonged to the ladies circle. She was very proud of her Norwegian Heritage. She enjoyed traveling to Alaska and to Norway. Mildred was a member of the Sons Of Norway, American Legion auxiliary and VFW auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing and working on her family tree. Mildred especially appreciated her three grandsons.
Mildred is survived by her daughter: Rosalyn Henricksen and her husband Kenneth of Owatonna, Minnesota; two sons: Marlin Schmidt of Red Wing, Minnesota and Dennis Schmidt and his wife Linda of rural Albert Lea, Minnesota; three grandsons: Daniel Schmidt, Jason and Jonathan Henricksen; sister: Irene Rietveld of Yucaipa, California.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest; four sisters and two brothers.
