Memorial Services for Melvin Dean Marquardt, of Glenville, MN will be held at 2:00 P.M on Friday, May 27, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Friends may visit one hour before the service at the funeral home Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Melvin died on Friday, May 20, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was 60. He was born on August 4, 1955, in Zumbrota, Minnesota the son of Jerry C. and AnnaMae (Schwierjohann) Marquardt.
Mel graduated from Owatonna High School and Austin Technical College. Mel had worked at Peipho Moving and Storage, Browns Printing in Waseca, St. John's Lutheran Community and was currently working at St. Theodore's Catholic Church. Melvin enjoyed gardening, viewing art, painting on canvas, listening to music, polka fests and watching classical films and movies. He loved all of nature and spending time biking and walking. Those left to cherish Mel's memory are brothers: Myron Marquardt (Florentina) of Yuma, AZ, Dale Marquardt of Albert Lea, MN, sisters: Katherine Marquardt Hinzmann (Randy) of Zumbrota, MN, Patricia Marquardt of Owatonna, MN, Janice Marquardt of Owatonna, MN; nieces and nephews, a great niece and great nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and AnnaMae Marquardt.
