Melissa Diane (Marvin) Cichon, a beloved wife and mother, passed away suddenly on March 24, 2026, at home in Albert Lea, MN.
Melissa was born on November 25, 1966, in Milaca, MN, to Claire and Vera (Gave) Marvin. Her life was marked by kindness, creativity, and devotion to her family. Melissa was a proud graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, MN. Melissa was known for her very kind, loving, and caring personality. She had an innate ability to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. Her creative spirit flourished through her love of crafting—making cards and engaging in projects that allowed her to express her artistry and flex her creative talents.
Melissa's family was the center of her world; the people who brought joy to her life are her husband Matthew, with whom she was united in marriage on July 20, 2002, and her two sons, Paul and Cody, who remain living reminders of her love. Melissa was a hard worker, and she loved that she got to work alongside her husband, Matthew, as an assistant manager at the Countryside Motel in Albert Lea. Their partnership in both life and work was a testament to their shared commitment and love.
Melissa’s passing is deeply mourned by all who knew her, particularly her devoted husband Matthew Cichon; her beloved sons Paul Buck III and Cody Cichon; her step-mother, Monica Marvin; half-sisters Shiela Erickson and Donna Beulin; and half-brothers Brian Beulin, Alan Duursma, and Bill Duursma, alongside many extended family members and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Vera (Gave) Marvin; as well as half-sisters Mary, Sandy, Kristen, and Linda; and half-brothers Robert and Clyde.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness that will continue to inspire and uplift her family and community. Her memory remains firmly etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
A Celebration of Life to honor Melissa’s life will take place at Grace Lutheran Church, 918 Garfield Avenue, Albert Lea 56007, on Saturday April 11. Service to begin at 12 PM, followed by a time of fellowship for friends and family to remember and celebrate the life of an amazing woman.
