Mary Katherine Beck

Mary Katherine (Bergstad) Beck, 70, of Albert Lea, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at her home in Albert Lea.

Mary was born August 4, 1952, in Albert Lea, MN to Carl and Katherine (O’Rourke) Bergstad. Born and raised in Albert Lea, Mary attended Albert Lea High School and worked at Wilsons until she was married and became a loving stay-at-home mom to her children, Tonya and Eric.

 After her children went off to school, Mary channeled her passion for caring into a career by becoming a nursing assistant at Albert Lea Board & Care. Mary’s family describes her affectionate character as having “a passion for people.” She took care of those in need and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A passionate caregiver, Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren.

During her free time, she enjoyed hunting for a bargain at consignment shops and rummage sales or watching TV soap operas like The Bold and the Beautiful. Her family relished her cooking by indulging in Mary’s homemade fried chicken. Along with having a well-known, kindhearted nature, Mary was spunky and full of wit. Most of which Mary’s partner, Ron, had the honor of handling daily. That vigor came in handy following her stage four cancer diagnosis. Despite this, Mary would find joy in dancing at the edge of her bed with what energy she still maintained.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Katherine Bergstad, and siblings, Carl Bergstad, Gene Lovik, Helen Vale, and Ronnie Lovik.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her partner, Ron Miranda; children, Tonya Garza, Eric (Jennifer) Beck, Debbie Rosheim, and John Rosheim; brother, Roger Lovik; sister, Carol Christianson (Myron Speer); grandchildren, Chase Garza, Talon Jensen, Calan BeBault, and Oliver Beck; niece, Cindy Thompson; and Mary’s beloved pup, Baby.

A Celebration of Remembrance will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Tonya Garza’s home, 1217 Madison Avenue, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
