Marjorie Marie Ulrich

Marjorie Duschek Ulrich was born on April 19, 1928 to Ernest and Mary (Wincell) Duschek in Steele County. She grew up on a farm west of the Rice Lake Church.

In 1945, Marjorie graduated from Claremont, MN. She earned her Lifetime Teaching Certificate from Winona Teachers College. Her teaching journey brought her to various school districts in southern Minnesota. She ended her 30+ year professional career, substituting in Albert Lea.

On June 20, 1954, Marjorie was married to Herbert Ulrich in Claremont. The couple raised their three children in Albert Lea. They have been members of the First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea.

Marjorie was passionate for birdwatching, reading, flowers, gardening and embroidering. She loved making (dropping) donuts for everybody and baking cakes for many special people and occasions. Friends and family enjoyed indulging in her chicken and dumpling soup! Marjorie taught piano lessons and loved performing recitals.

Both Herb and Marge enjoyed camping, dancing to old time music, and playing cards. In their motorhome, they were snowbirds in Arizona doing most of those things. Together, they spent many summer days in “Herbie’s Love Buggy” participating in wagon trains. In her later years, she found a passion for sewing many rugs out of double-knit pieces and sharing her talent with others.

Marjorie passed away on Monday, October 28, 2025 at Mankato Hospital. She was 97 years young.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Susan (Mike) Draayer; Julie and her son, Jarrod and family of Arizona; David (Kathy) Ulrich and their sons, Matt, Jake, Tyler, Joe, Cole and their families.

She is proceeded in death by both parents and her older brother William (Bill).

She will be terribly missed; blessed be her memory.

Visitation will start on Monday, November 3, 2025 at The First Presbyterian Church, 308 Water St, Albert Lea, MN 56007 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral service for Marjorie will start 11:00 AM. Following the graveside service at 2:00 PM at Owatonna Memorial Garden, 3627 N. County Rd 45, Owatonna, MN.
