Marjorie Ann Swartz

Marjorie Ann Swartz, 85, of Albert Lea, MN peacefully passed away on October 19, 2023, at Care and Rehab in Ostrander, MN. Born on December 6, 1937, to Bertina (Roveldt) Turnmire and John Bernard Diesman in Blooming Prairie, MN.

Marjorie grew up in the Albert Lea area and embarked on various adventures throughout her life, also living in Tennessee and California before returning back to Minnesota. She treasured her time living by the coast, as being close to the ocean brought her immense joy. Marjorie cherished her memories of traveling and exploring new places, making every day an opportunity to create new stories; her family adored listening to all her stories of adventure.  Aside from her love for the ocean, Marjorie was a loyal Elvis fan. One of her fondest memories was spending time inside the guardhouse, hoping to catch a glimpse of the legendary musician. Her passion for Bingo was unmatched, with her lucky trolls always by her side, bringing her good fortune and adding a touch of whimsy to her life.

Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Diane Selthun  and Dawn (Arturo)Lopez both of Albert Lea, MN; son, Donald Swartz; grandchildren, David (Katherine Johnson) Hernandez, Tristan Selthun, Victoria (Daniel Irlas) Lopez, Erica (Maxwell Truax) Lopez, Antonio Lopez, Steven Selthun, Patricia (Daniel) Parmenter, and Daniel Whalen all from Albert Lea, MN, Adam (Katie) Lopez and Andrew (Dinah Brandt) Lopez of Owatonna, MN, and Marie Mills of Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Hernandez of San Antonio, TX, Destiny Hernandez, Hunter Hernandez, Sahara Hernandez, Emma Schmidt, Curtis Parmenter, Jaelyn Parmenter, Alexander Lopez, Abraham Gonzales, Aijah Lopez, Arturo Irlas, Willow Irlas, and Lylah Irlas all of Albert Lea, MN, Alexavier Lopez of Spring Valley, MN, Kaden Lopez, Azarie Lopez, Alakai Lopez, Kianna Boyd, Aiden Boyd, Dominic Lopez, Greyson Lopez, and Mila Lopez all of Owatonna, MN, Ariana Paulsen of Blooming Prairie, MN; ; great-great-granddaughter, Iliana Beardsley; siblings, John Diesman of St. Cloud, MN and Irene Nesset of Albert Lea, MN; and many nieces and nephews.  Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra Whelan; sisters, Bernice Mobry of Albert Lea, MN and Theresa Kuhlman of Greater Tampa Bay, FL; and great-grandson, Josiah Write of Starbuck, MN.

Marjorie’s family will greet guests at a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services in Albert Lea, MN.  A time for sharing memories and prayer will begin at 2:00 PM followed by a committal service at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea, MN.

Marjorie will forever be remembered for her vivacious spirit, her zest for life, and her unwavering love for her family. May her memory live on in the hearts and minds of all who loved her.
