Margaret Ann Johnson

Margaret Johnson, 94, of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at her home.

Born on June 17, 1929, in Albert Lea, she was a daughter of the late Obell and Evelyn (Berglund) Wayne. On March 5, 1949, Margaret was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Johnson. Together the couple owned and operated the former Sullivan Paint store and took annual trips to Tucson, AZ and Mexico, where Margaret loved to sit on the beach and soak up the sunshine.

Strong in her faith, Margaret was a member of Bridge Community Church, formerly First Baptist Church, in Albert Lea.  Known for her love of the outdoors, Margaret loved to tend to her beautiful flower garden. She was creative and took pleasure in crafting, especially needlepoint, and collecting antiques, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. Above all, Margaret was a devoted wife and beloved mother.  Her true joy came from spending time with her family, including their family dogs- all of which were golden retrievers.

Left to cherish Margaret’s memory are her two children, Christine (Steven) Carlsen and Gary (Cathy) Johnson; grandchildren, Peter (Katie) Carlsen, Paul (Sara) Carlsen, Brian (Britney) Johnson, and Brad (Heather) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lance, Emma, Ben and Sullivan; a sister, Helen (Howard) Sauer; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Obell and Evelyn, and her husband Bob, Margaret was preceded in death by three siblings, Stanley, Barbara, and Pauline.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services, with a visitation beginning at 1:00PM. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Croix Hospice or Bridge Community Church.
