Margaret Virginia Frerichs

Margaret Virginia (Lee) Frerichs, passed away on September 8, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, beginning at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 308 Water Street, Albert Lea, 56007. A memorial service will follow beginning at 12 PM.

She was born on October 28, 1928, in Glenville, Minnesota to Melvin and Mary (Waldo) Lee. Margaret was united in marriage with Harold Frerichs on May 21, 1970, at the famous Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. She built a life marked by devotion to home, family, and the simple joys that brought people together.

She loved polka, dancing, camping, traveling, and playing cards with friends. Margaret also enjoyed crocheting and gardening, and she took great care of her home. She worked hard to keep it impressively tidy, and those who gathered at her table at mealtime were treated to a set table, with hot, tasty food which was already served up for them. Margaret was a wonderful baker. In her spare time, she sold homemade bread and rolls, and her family especially cherished memories of her grapefruit pie and sour-cream raisin pie. Her care for others was often expressed through the comfort of a welcoming home and food prepared with pride and love.

She is survived by her children, Vicky (Dan) Robson, Sheryl Morgan, and James (Patty) Hove; her step-children, Lyle, Lana, Lance, Lon, and Lisa; her grandchildren Dan, Sarah, Matt, Jon, Alyssa and Cameron; her 10 great-grandchildren; and many beloved extended family members and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents Melvin and Mary Lee; and her brother Duane Lee.

May the many memories of Margaret’s warmth, love and kind heart bring comfort to those in mourning.
