Lynn Clifton Toenges, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Windermere, Florida.
Lynn was born on June 2, 1960 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Clifton and Gail Toenges. He was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church at Pickerel Lake, and graduated from Alden High School in 1978. Lynn pursued his education with diligence, earning his undergraduate degree from Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa before completing his Bachelor’s degree in business at the University of Iowa Cedar Falls.
After school, his career took him to Hawkeye Bank in Lake Mills, Iowa. Afterward he moved on to serving as the Men’s Department Manager at Donaldson Department Store. He then left home and found himself serving in several prominent stores in Chicago, including Evan's Fur Company, Marshall Fields, and Sports Mart. He later returned to Minnesota to work with Toenges Enterprises, but his heart led him to Florida, where he realized his dream job at Disney. Lynn served as a sales coordinator with Fantasy Land Merchandise at Magic Kingdom. From 2011 to 2024, he made lasting memories at the parks with his coworkers and with his friends. Following his retirement, Lynn spent his time as a crossing guard for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, serving Bay Lake Elementary School and Horizon West Middle School. The smiling faces of young students and the bonds he formed with his coworkers became the bright spots of his day.
Lynn loved to celebrate and entertain, especially for holidays, his favorite of which was Christmas. Much of his family and many friends will cherish the memories made during his beloved Christmas business parties. Lynn also had a great love of sports, and was an enthusiastic supporter of his favorite teams, Lynn held season tickets and loved to go to support the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Minnesota Vikings. However, golf was his true passion. He shone brightly on his high school team with whom he reached the state tournament and then the Junior Nationals with his college team. Lynn continued to compete and excel, winning several tournaments and state championships. Lynn was the golf club champion at several country clubs, including in Owatonna, Minnesota and Celebration, Florida.
Lynn is survived by his loving mother, Gail Toenges; his sister Amy (Jeff) Kelley; his niece Paige Kelley; nephew Austen Kelley; close friend John Ketchen; and a host of extended family members and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. Lynn was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Toenges; as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his cousin Darwin Cox.
