Lyle, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026 surrounded by his loving family, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea.

Born on May 22, 1936, in Alden, Minnesota, to John and Helen (Sanfter) Boyer. He attended St. Theodore Catholic School and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1955. Following graduation, he began his career at the Wilson/Farmstead/Farmland plant, where he worked until his retirement, always dedicated to providing for his family.

Lyle was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jeannie Odson of Albert Lea, on October 16, 1965. Together, they raised their three children, Michelle, Mary, and Carrie, in Albert Lea. Lyle was a kind and loving husband to his best friend and wife, Jeannie, and an amazing father to his children. His greatest accomplishment was being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took such pride in providing a simple, humble, full life for his family.

A deeply caring, compassionate, and generous soul, Lyle found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping with family and friends, where he would be seen in cowboy boots, plaid shorts, a white tank top, and a cowboy hat. He was also known for preparing French toast that became legendary among family and friends, a small example of the love he poured into everything he did.

Lyle’s passion for bowling began in high school, when he spent every day after school setting pins at the local bowling alley. He continued that love for nearly 40 years as a dedicated member of a bowling league, often traveling across the country for tournaments. Many of these trips were especially meaningful as he shared them with his wife, Jeannie, and family.

An avid hunter, Lyle cherished time spent in the mountains out west and on trips to Canada. Among his proudest moments was harvesting his moose, Milo—a story he loved to share.

Survived by wife Jeannie of 60 years, daughters Michelle (Paul) Keefe, Mary (Devon) Boyer, Carrie (Jeff) Simpson. Grandkids Mason (fiancée Presley) Keefe, Isaac Olvera, Taya Keefe, Noah (fiancée Alexia) Olvera, Myah Keefe, Thea Keefe, Piper Boyer, Stella Boyer, Kaylee Sukalski, Tristan Simpson, and great-grandson Mateo Olvera, Goddaughter Tami (Patrick) Corrigan. Sister-in-law Carolyn (Arlan) Kjarland. Brothers-in-law Duane Odson and Larry Rygh.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, John Boyer, Dorothy Boyer, Art Boyer, Luella (Bob) Bergen, Anna (Leslie) Peterson, Charlie (Ellen) Boyer, Walter (Rose) Boyer, Francis (Margaret) Boyer, William (Romona) Boyer, and Margery (Fay) Bice. Parents-in-law, Kenneth and Marian Odson. Sisters-in-law, Judith Nelson, Linda (Jim) Radke, Connie Rygh.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the incredible staff at Good Samaritan Society and St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided to Lyle during his final days.

In honor of Lyle, the family encourages those attending to wear something western as a tribute to his style and spirit.
