The Memorial service for Lillian (Hansen) Dwight) Smith of Glendale, AZ.,
will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 6, 2003, at Bonnerup Funeral
Service, Albert Lea. Pastors Philip and Marilyn Peters will officiate. Interment
Will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Lillian, fondly remembered for her beautiful smile that could light the
day and her independent spirit, died July 20, 2003 at a Scottsdale Hospice
Cottage, Scottsdale, AZ. She was 77 years old.
Lillian was born December 28, 1925, in Albert Lea to Henry and Betsy Hansen.
She grew up in Albert Lea, attended First Lutheran Church, and graduated from
Albert Lea High School.
Lillian married Roger Gleason Dwight who predeceased her. She enjoyed
playing the piano, crossword puzzles, knitting, and love animals.
She also enjoyed and was an extraordinary Cub Scout den mother.
Lillian married Joseph Smith in Reno, NV.
Lillian worked for IBM in Rochester, MN., as a systems engineer,
later transferring with IBM to Minneapolis. She lived in Lutsen, MN
for several years, employed by Lutsen Ski Resort. She later moved to
Renton, WA., and was employed by the Boeing Company as a systems analyst/
programmer and data processing instructor.
Lillian is survived by her son, Robert Henry Dwight and his wife Dolores (Dee)
of Scottsdale, AZ; one sister Jeanette L. Olson of Albert Lea; three nieces:
Mary Nelson and her husband Vance Blaine, MN., Nancy Emery and her husband
Gary of Ham Lake, MN., and Janis Olson of Minneapolis, MN., and
several grand nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by Henry and Betsy Hansen, Roger Dwight,
and Joseph Smith.
