Juliette "Julie" Aalberg passed away May 24, 2025 at the age of 89. Visitation will be held at Bonnerup Funeral Home on June 5, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Services will be held at St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota on June 6, 2025 at 2:00 pm; a visitation will he held one hour prior. Juliette will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Lawrence, at St. Theodore's Catholic Cemetery.
Beginning her life in Berlin, New Hampshire, Julie was one of 16 children born to Phillip and Marie Canuel. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Aalberg on September 29, 1956 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their love brought forth 6 children of their own - Julie, Greg, Alice, Alan, Sharon, and John.
She worked as a baker and cook and in her free time Juliette enjoyed time with her family, crocheting, playing cards and enjoying the sunshine at the lake, or simply outside on a lawn chair watching the birds. She was well known for her pea salad, rhubarb pie, banana bread and microwave turkey. There were always snacks in the kitchen and a big tub of ice cream in the freezer. Her house was always ready for visitors with extra bedrooms and linens for couches. Julie loved to go garage saling with a roll of quarters and a rummage sale sign would always get her excited. She was married to Larry Aalberg for 62 years and had six children. She was a very dedicated care giver to everyone. She always welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren with open and loving arms. She was small in stature but large in love. Children and family pets always gravitated to her gentle love and compassionate spirit. Julie could sit outside with an empty chair beside her and in no time at all someone would stop by for a visit. She loved her neighbors and they loved her and always watched over her. She enjoyed getting a boat ride and a beer to sip along the way.
The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the Dell Rapids Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Dell Rapids, South Dakota for providing all of the loving care for Julie for the past three years. Their staff always made Julie's stay like a home experience. We would also like to thank the staff at the Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls, South Dakota for their tremendous service. The level of care from both facilities was excellent! And we would also like to thank the Avera Dells Rapids Hospital team for taking great care of our mom.
Juliette was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; two infant children, Julie and Alan; her parents Phillip and Marie; her sisters Lucille Stanton, Jermaine Gauthier, Jeanette Ayotte and Yvonne Camillocci; and brothers, Robert, Roland, and twin brother Julian Canuel.
