Albert Lea

Memorial Services for Julie M. Jasperson, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 12, at Grace Lutheran Church.  The Reverend Shane Koepke will officiate.  Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery.  Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Julie died peacefully on Friday morning, November 8, at ThorneCrest.  She was 72. She was born on February 27, 1947, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Reuben C. and Arline (Hall) Johnson. Julie graduated from Albert Lea High School with the class of 1965 and continued her education at Mankato State College.  She was united in marriage to Kent Jasperson on September 14, 1968, at Grace Lutheran Church and they built their home and raised their family in Albert Lea.  Julie had a great love for kids and a true passion for education.  She was a para-educator for District #241 for more than 30 years, and also was a volunteer educator for Discover History Days at the Freeborn Historical Society for many years.  Julie was always up for an adventure, willing to try anything and go anywhere.  Yearly trips to Gull Lake (her happy place),  wintering in Corpus Christi over the years and the many travels,  especially after she and Kent retired, leave many special memories. She had so many favorites, some include, her card club, flowers, bird watching, entertaining, cooking,  and almost daily visits to the State Park. Julie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Julie will be greatly missed by her husband, of 51 years,  Kent, her children Traci  Jasperson (Travis Brouillard) of Mpls, MN, Mark Jasperson of Hastings, NE, sister Mary Muelhaupt of Lawrence, KS, niece Heather (Mike) McKinney and family of Lawrence, KS and nephew Jonathan Tyler and family also of Lawrence, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Arline Johnson and her siblings Carol Shepherd and John Johnson.

Special thanks to all the  outstanding staff at ThorneCrest for their dedicated, compassionate care of Julie and her family.
