Jeffery Neal Engel, formerly of Albert Lea, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 59 years old.
Jeff was born on December 19, 1956 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to parents Gene and Darlene (Butler) Engel. He was raised in Glenville, attending First Lutheran Church of Glenville and graduating from Glenville High School.
After high school Jeff went on to hold jobs at Red Owl, Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Wilson's & Farmstead, and as caretaker of the Freeborn County Fairgrounds for several years. He's lived in several other states, but most recently settled in Belton, Missouri since 2011. He worked in refrigeration at Smithfield Foods.
Jeff married Tammy (Terry) Hutchinson on August 31, 1996 in Duluth, Minnesota. Two sons were born to this union. In his free time, Jeff enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and coin collecting. He was a very good cook & baker. His memory will live on fondly through his family.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Engel; sons, Nicholas and Nathaniel Engel; step-sons, Robert and Michael Hutchinson; parents, Gene and Darlene Engel; siblings, Patricia (Scott) Hertzke, Timothy (Brenda) Engel; niece and nephews, Dylan and Grace Engel, Kevin Bonebrake; aunts & uncles, Charles (Linda) Butler, Shirley (Paul) Hanson, Donna Kemmits, Russell Engel, Beverly (Paul) Schmidt, Bonnie Engel, Willis Hanson; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Adelheid Engel, Harold and Minnie Butler; brother-in-law, Doug Albright; uncles, Richard Kemmits, Earl Butler, Cleon Engel; and aunts, Elaine Engel, Laurine Engel, and Barbara Hanson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, Minnesota (2210 E Main St.) with visitation starting at 9 A.M. Pastor Nancy Hansen will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea.
