Janice Tukua passed away at the age of 86, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Born in Faribault, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Elmer and Isabel (Jensen) Loken. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and married her beloved husband, Ellwood, in 1959. Together, they shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and countless memories.
She had a special eye for beauty and a love for decorating and flower gardening. She found joy in making things beautiful and creating warm, welcoming spaces for those around her. She also enjoyed shopping at Hobby Lobby. Her creativity and love of beautiful things were reflected in her years as the owner of The Heart of the Artichoke in Albert Lea, a special part of her life and the community.
Above all, she treasured her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ellwood; her children and grandchildren: Lori and Paul, and their son, Adam Yeske; Lisa and Brian Doyle, and their children, Nathan and Nicole Doyle; and Steven Tukua.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Isabel Loken; Ellwood's parents, Oscar and Norma Tukua; sister Judy Madson, and her beloved daughter-in-law, Mary Tukua, who passed away in August 2025.
Services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2026, at First Lutheran Church, 301 W. Clark Street, Albert Lea, Minnesota 56007.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Her hands created beauty, her heart gave love, and the memories she leaves behind will bloom forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
