Jacquelyn Mae “Jackie” Shuck, 69, of Albert Lea, MN, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025.
Born on November 14, 1955, in Albert Lea, she was the beloved daughter of the late Wallace and Florene (Payne) Johnson. Jackie was raised in Alden, MN, where her nurturing spirit and culinary talents first blossomed, learning the art of cooking in her father’s restaurant, Wally’s Cafe.
A proud graduate of Alden High School in 1974, Jackie carried her love for cooking throughout her life, working in multiple kitchens including Nelson's County Market, the Elbow Room, and Kwik Trip, where she became known for her delicious meals. Her career eventually led her to become a cherished bus monitor, where she formed lasting bonds with the children she cared for, reflecting her gentle and nurturing nature.
Jackie shared 40 wonderful years with her husband, Gary Shuck, whom she married on June 26, 1993. Their love story, filled with laughter and joy, continued until Gary's passing in 2024. In addition to her love for cooking, Jackie had a green thumb and loved gardening—particularly her cherished flowers. She was known for her keen eye for design, frequently rearranging rooms in her home and redecorating, always making her space warm and inviting. Jackie enjoyed quiet moments on her porch or patio, watching over her neighborhood, and treasured her weekly trips to the casino with her sister, Jean.
A woman of many talents, Jackie hosted family gatherings and Sunday dinners. She had a heart of gold, always generous and honest, and her warmth touched everyone who knew her. Her affinity for collecting Angels and coloring with gel pens reflected her playful spirit. Above all, Jackie adored her family.
