Harold "Harry" Steenblock

Funeral services for Harold “Harry” Steenblock will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, with Rev. Eileen Woyen officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.  Military honors will be performed by the Albert Lea Area Veteran’s Organizations.

Harold passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at St. John’s – The Woodlands in Albert Lea.  He was 82 years old.

Harold Leroy Steenblock was born on April 28, 1937 in Belmond, IA to parents Ronald and Ruth (Meyer) Steenblock.  He graduated from Belmond High School in 1955.  In September of 1955, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was primarily stationed in Guam and Lincoln, NE.  He served honorably until his discharge in 1959.  Harry would marry Bev Kerdus, and together, they were blessed with three daughters.  The couple would later divorce.

Harry worked at Cut Low Grocery as a manager and then Bridon Cordage where he would eventually retire.  When he wasn’t working, you could find Harry playing cards and striking up conversations with anyone that would listen.  He liked watching football and baseball, collecting sports cards.  Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and he treasured moments that he spent with them!

He is preceded in death by both parents, Ronald and Ruth Steenblock; his daughter, Kimberly; and sisters, Connie and Gladys.

Those left to carry on his legacy include his two daughters, Lori (Steve) Wagner of Albert Lea and Julie (Dave) Jensen of Wells; grandchildren, Christopher (Sunja) Wagner, Jeremiah (Desirae) Wagner, Angie (Andy) Larson, and Monica (Zach) Lewis; great-grandchildren, Kylie Wagner, McKinsey Wagner, Grady Larson, Reese Larson, Maddy Lewis and Poppy Lewis; siblings, Ronnie, Sandra, Dennis, Doug, Marian, Cindy, Randy, Dallas, Greg, and Deb; as well as many loving extended relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mayo Hospice in Albert Lea, St. John’s – The Woodlands, and the Mayo Health System, Albert Lea Emergency Room Department for their exceptional care and compassion shown towards Harry.
