Gordon “Gordy” Hacker, age 70, of Albert Lea, MN passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
Gordy served in the US Navy in the Vietnam War. Gordy was proud to serve his country and was proud to be a veteran. He was the only son of Albert and Helen Hacker and had five sisters. Gordy graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1970. After returning from Vietnam, he married his high school sweetheart Roseline “Lolly” Villarreal on April 7th, 1973, at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church. Gordy and Lolly were married 49 years. They started a family soon after they were married and had four children and 19 grandchildren.
Gordy was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 56. He enjoyed fishing, camping, watching Albert Lea High School Hockey, and spending time with his family and grandkids.
In April 2012, Gordy survived a major stroke and worked hard to adapt to many changes and challenges.
Gordy was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include Gordy’s wife, Lolly Hacker; children, Chad (Keri) Hacker of Albert Lea, Jennifer Hampton of Garner, IA, Troy Hacker of Albert Lea, and Derek Hacker of Albert Lea; grandchildren; Levi Larissa, Lucas, Logan, Vayda, Ledger, Tori, Brian, Lexi, Isia, Ryan, Rheya, Xavian, Kyra, Kymber, Kamryn, Kyler, Rilynn, and Amara; siblings; Mary (Dave) Wendeboe, Sandy Simonson, Debbie (Marvin) Rohde, and Donna (Rick) Karge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Helen Hacker; sister, Maggie (Ray) Rohde; father-in-law, Albert Villarreal; sister-in-law, Debbie Villarreal; and a nephew, Ryan Escherich.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services in Albert Lea. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be performed by the Albert Lea American Legion.
