Gerald “Jerry” Roger Schultz, age 92, passed away with his daughters by his side, on November 20, 2025 at Parkview Nursing Home in Wells, MN after a brief stay.

Jerry was born on April 12, 1933 in Alden, MN to Walter and Cora (Millhouse) Schultz. He attended Alden School and following school, in 1951, enlisted in the United States Air Force. He spent a year in South Carolina graduating from the Automotive Maintenance Course conducted by the 12th Engineer Battalion Specialist School. He then spent two years in Japan and a year in New Mexico before being discharged with several honors at the end of his military tour. Jerry was proud of his service to his country and he would have received his 70 year American Legion membership award this year, an honor he was excited to achieve. After his military duty Jerry returned to Alden and found employment hauling grain to Redwing, until he decided to run his own corn shelling business. He met and married Barbara Jean (Anderson) and to this union, three children were born.

Jerry drove truck for Streaters until he and Barb purchased the Alden Hardware Hank business and moved the family to town. Jerry and Barb later divorced. Jerry sold, by auction, the Hardware business and he purchased the building that originally was the Olson Chevrolet building in Alden to start a liquidation business called Bi-Rite Sales. He had monthly auctions at this business, and made yearly trips to New Mexico to sell merchandise, which he really enjoyed. Jerry was known as the go-to guy when you wanted trees taken down as he had all the equipment and cut wood for years to heat his home and businesses. He was also known as the best of the best in making and sharpening chain saw chains as he was very meticulous and excellent in this art. He cut wood and made and sharpened chains into his 90’s.

Survivors include his three children, son Ronald (Terri) Schultz of Florida, and daughters Linda Schultz of Albert Lea, and Jackie Schultz of Albert Lea; five grandchildren: Jason Thompson, Garrett (Lindsay) Schultz, Reece (Samantha) Schultz, Gradon Schultz, and Katya (Honey) Fredrickson; four great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Noah, Bentley, Kaden, and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be a celebration of Life on May 30, 2026 at 1 PM at the Alden Cemetery for a short service and interment, followed by a gathering at the Alden Legion, 151 North Broadway, Alden, MN 56009, from 2 to 4 PM. Friends and relatives are welcomed at both.

"Dad, you are missed every day, not only by your family but also by your countless number of friends.”
