Gary Roland Edstrom, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and resident of Glenville, MN, passed away on November 16, 2023, at the age of 75. Born on October 30, 1948, in South Minneapolis, Gary led a remarkable life that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

A patriot at heart, Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His commitment and dedication to the military earned him an honorable discharge in 1969.

Throughout his life, Gary was blessed with love and companionship. He entered into two marriages and was blessed with three children from these unions: Benjamin, Donna, and Brenda. In 2016, Gary found his soulmate, LeAnn (McGuire), and the couple exchanged vows of eternal love in a beautiful ceremony on July 23, 2016, at the Glenville Park gazebo.

Gary had an immense love for his family. He was their pillar of strength and protection, always putting their needs above his own. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, creating wonderful memories that will forever be cherished. Gary had a zest for life and loved being a part of his community. He was an active member of the American Legion, where he found camaraderie and support with his fellow veterans.

In his free time, Gary enjoyed exploring on two wheels, riding his beloved Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He made an impressive 28 trips to Sturgis for the rally, reveling in the excitement and fellowship that awaited him each year. He also found solace in the great outdoors, embarking on hunting trips in Blackduck, MN, and relished the adventure in being a part of horse roundups in Montana.

Gary's favorite holiday was Halloween, and his enthusiasm for the occasion was evident in the elaborate decorations that adorned his front yard. He embraced the festive spirit, bringing joy to children and neighbors alike. His neighborhood was like a family to him and he adored his community. Gary's vibrant spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and resilience that will forever be etched in our hearts.

Gary will be lovingly remembered by his wife, LeAnn, children, Benjamin McGoverin, Donna (Ryan) Moe, and Brenda Edstrom; step-children, Marnie (Ray) Fjelstad and Jamie (Tracy Neilon); grandchildren, Haley, Jordyn, Cole, Wyatt, and Sebastian; step-grandchildren, Ryan,Aaron, and Kiah; sister, June Provo; brother, Joel (Lonny) Johnson; sister-in-law, Nancy (Mark) Smith, brother-in-law, Danny (Rhonda)McGuire; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna June Edstrom; sisters, Gaylyn Edstrom and Jerry (Mike) Roddy; brother, Guy Edstrom; and his beloved coonhound, Jake.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 25 at 2:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services in Albert Lea, MN; Chaplain Scott Sokol will officiate. Gary's family will greet guests at a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Please join us as we honor and remember Gary, sharing stories, laughter, and tears, as we pay tribute to a remarkable man who graced our lives with his presence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Gary's family.
