Ronald "Fuzzy" Orin Lunning, passed away on August 2, 2026, at the age of 82. He will be missed dearly and fondly remembered.
Ron was born on June 27, 1944, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Raymond and Wauneita (Horde) Lunning. Ron was united in marriage to Brenda Aske, and together they had three children. The two later divorced, but his family was the center of his world. Ron cherished family gatherings and prioritized quality time with loved ones.
He found great enjoyment in nature and recreation. He spent countless hours hunting, clay shooting, bowling, fishing, camping, and gardening. Vacations—especially summer trips to Northern Minnesota and South Dakota—were treasured highlights, as were the evenings spent around bonfires on the farm, surrounded by family and friends. He will be missed for his distinctive chuckle, his unwavering love and support, and the joy he spread when surrounded by those he loved. His friends and family will remember his favorite brown and tan checkered blazer, and his insistence that the family have pasta before Virgil’s football games, to make sure that his son had the energy to perform his best.
Ron's life was marked by his steadfast work ethic and devotion to family and friends. After graduating from high school, he began his career as a meat packer at Wilson's/Farmland in Albert Lea. He then joined Vern's Trucking in Geneva, Minnesota. A proud veteran, Ron served in the Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that further shaped his resilience and commitment to supporting others. Those who knew him recognized his emotional and mental strength; no matter what challenges he faced, he made the best of life and happily offered a helping hand to those in need.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Kristin (Aaron) Mannes, and his sons, Brett Lunning and Virgil Lunning; his grandchildren Brenda Lunning, Amelia Lunning, Kaylee Lunning, Morgan Scheib, Patrick Scheib, Brynna Mannes and Kylee Mannes; his brothers Greg "Peck" (Leanne) Lunning and Duane "Twang" Lunning; and many beloved extended family members, and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Raymond Lunning; his mother Wauneita Brindel and step-father Marvin Brindel.
Ron's family would like to send a special thank you to Ronalds' home health nurse, Jodi Lieffort, for her compassion and care over the last three years. They would also like to send a special thank you to Ashley Mannes for making sure that Ron was happy, well cared for and comfortable during Ron's time in the care center. And finally, the family would like to express their appreciation to the many friends and family members who were there for them during these last weeks, with a kind word, advice, support and unwavering love.
