ELLEN FRIEDRICH OBITUARY….





Ellen Marie Margaret Meyer-Friedrich, 96 of Austin , Minnesota , died Nvoember 21, 2008 at St. Mark’s



Nursing Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church , Austin , with the Rev. Jeffery Sage officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery , Albert Lea , MN .





Ellen was born February 19, 1921 in Ottumwa , Iowa . She was lovingly adopted by Rev. and Mrs.



Gustav Meyer. She married Rev. Edwin Friedrich on June 12, 1940.





She was a graduate of Westmar Academy and Westmar University , LeMars , Iowa with BA and BM degrees. Later she attended the University of Lincoln, Nebraska for her post graduate work.





She taught Normal Training , high school and elementary grades for many years in Nebraska and Minnesota . She was gifted in music and an excellent violinist. She was a church organist, choir director, Sunday school and Bible class teacher. She was president of the Minnesota South District LWML for 8 years.





Since moving to Austin , Ellen was active in the Ladies Aid, Ladies Circle and Bible classes at Holy Cross Lutheran Church .





She and her late husband enjoyed traveling and together they journeyed to Germany and the Holy Land . She enjoyed spending family time with her seven children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was accomplished at embroidery and crocheting, leaving a legacy for family and friends.





Survivors include one son, Gustav, New Jersey; four daughters: Miriam (Lloyd) Luehmann, Austin, Mary (Charles) Rohe, Zumbrota, Muriel (Gene) Stark, Glenwood, Marilyn Friedrich, Huntington Beach, CA; son-in-law, Wallace Fromm, Sparta, WI; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.





She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; two daughters: Martha Fendt and Margaret Fromm; a sister and brother.





Friends may call at Holy Cross Lutheran Church , Austin , MN one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice.
