Remembering the life of Eleanor J. Godtland..

The Funeral Service for Eleanor J. Godtland, of St. John's Lutheran Home, Albert Lea, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Reverend Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea,

and one hour before the service at the church. Following cremation interment will

be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville.

Eleanor died at the age of 82, on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at St. John?s Lutheran Home. She and her family were so thankful for the patient, loving care she received from the staff while she was a resident at St. John's.

Eleanor was born on March 11, 1921, in Northwood, Iowa, the daughter of Reinert and Gunda (Fredrickson) Spilde. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended rural country school near Northwood, IA.

On November 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Glenn C. Godtland in

Northwood. To this union eight children were born: Gloria, Barbara, David, Sandra, Steven, James, Karen, and Lori. Eleanor?s life centered around family and

raising her eight children was the greatest joy of all. Eleanor enjoyed making people happy, she did this by sharing of herself, visiting, telling jokes and lovingly caring for all of them especially her grandchildren.

Eleanor is survived by eight children: Gloria and her husband Clarence Sveen of Winona, MN., Barbara and her husband Rodger Baseman of Glenville, MN., David

Godtland and his wife Georgia, Sandra Abrego, Steven Godtland and his wife Tracy, James Godtland and his wife Darla all of Albert Lea, Karen and her husband Craig Crawford of Omaha, NE., Lori Godtland of Albert Lea;

Two brothers: Floyd Spilde, Willard Spilde and his wife Alice, a sister Helen McDaniels: twenty nine grandchildren: Peggy Sveen, Todd Sveen, Brian Sveen, Carla Blood, Lynn Sveen, April Sveen, Robert Baseman, Robyn Sailor, Rodger Baseman Jr., Randy Baseman, Janelle Rasmussen, Kevin Godtland, Jill Godtland, Kristy Dennison, Phillip Abrego, Erick Abrego, Kelly Abrego, Amy Jones, Jeff Godtland, Steve Godtland, Kellie Abrego, Hilary Helgeson, Stacy Judd, Brianna Godtland, Krystal Godtland, Stephanie Godtland, Jennifer Crawford, Susan Crawford, Melanie Crawford; 42 great grandchildren with three more on the way, one great great grandson Blaze; brothers-in-law Ron Godtland and his wife Karen, of Conger,

LuVerne Godtland and his wife Jeanie and Richard Godtland and his wife Sandy of Albert Lea, sisters-in-law Georgia Johnson, Lois Undahl, Jay Godtland, Dorothy Godtland, all of Albert Lea, and Olive Godtland of Benedict, MN., special

friends Shirley Behrends and Esther Peterson of Albert Lea and numerous nieces,

nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents Reinert and Gunda Spilde,

her husband Glenn, son-in-law Moses Abrego, granddaughter Felicia Godtland, brothers-in-law Arnold Johnson, Deverne Undahl, Frank McDaniels, Dale Whities, Raymond, Ellsworth, Art Jr. and Arvin "Don" Godtland, sisters-in-laws Arlene Godtland, Ruth Whities, nephews, Jerry Johnson and Larry Spild, niece, Marcie Godtland.

Heartfelt thanks to granddaughter Robyn Sailor for all the special care she

gave to both Eleanor and Glenn.

Eleanor had a great spirit of life and always had an open heart. We will miss the stories, the jokes, and her smile.



A precious one from us has gone

A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home

Which never can be filled, God in His wisdom has recalled,

The boon His love had given,

And though the body slumbers here, the soul is safe in Heaven.
