Eldon Monson

April 15, 1950 — October 15, 2025

Eldon Edward Monson, 75, of Albert Lea passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran community from cancer.

Eldon was born April 15, 1950 in Freeborn County to Henrick Monson and Wanda (Attig) Monson. They lived on a farm outside of Albert Lea in his early years and went to the country school that is at the fairgrounds. They then moved to Albert Lea where he attended school and grew up at.

He held a few jobs, like gas station attendant, and Farmstead, and bartender in Pine City. In the 70’s he attended truck-driving school and started his 35 years of over the road trucking all over the United States.

Things he enjoyed was playing pool and chess, and watching westerns. He also liked the outdoors and all the animals that care around when he put birdseed out every day for all. He had many close friends he grew up with and met throughout his life.

Left to cherish his memory is his significant other LeAnn Prihoda; their son Dylan Monson; their daughter Rainya (Keith) Johnson; his sisters that he loved very much LeAnn Trolan, Marty (Phillip) Ziegenhagen, Julaine (Delbert) Simpson, and Helen Monson-Zeise; his grandsons Jay Strack, James Strack, Cameron Strack, and Drew aka "Louie Baumgart” Monson; his nephew Nels Trolan; and two nieces Brittany Brewer and Rachel Monson-Finsteun; many cousins, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henrick and Wanda; his brother-in-law Roger Trolan; and his best buddy-his dog Hondo.

There will be a celebration of life for Eldon at Bleachers Sports Bar and Grill, 1002 South Broadway Ave, Albert Lea, MN 56007, on Saturday, November 22 at 2 PM.

Thank you to the nurses in Rochester and to St. Croix Hospice that took care of him.
