Elaine Paulsen

Helen Elaine Paulsen was born on October 16, 1945, in Kansas City, MO. Her parents were Richard and Margaret (Fettig) Wackher. She grew up and graduated from Palatine High School, Palatine, IL.

Education was the center of Elaine’s life. She graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA and later pursued her Masters degree in Teaching and Principalship at Mankato State University. She taught in Clear Lake, IA, Hayward, MN and taught and worked with special needs at Riverland Community College in Albert Lea. She retired after serving as Elementary Principal at the elementary school in Glenville, MN.

Elaine was a giver, she loved her family, spending time with her grandchildren and was passionate about her work with Hospice. She was a very avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. She found much comfort in the companionship of her canine friend Chloe. On July 12, 1986, Elaine married Milton C. Paulsen Jr.

Elaine died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. She is survived by her husband Milt, her children Garrett “Andy” Klinker of Illinois, Gretchen L. Gade of Albert Lea, step children Milton “Chris” (Shannon) Paulsen III of Albert Lea, Michael Scott of Jacksonville, Arkansas, grandchildren: Drew Ann Klinker, Morgan Klinker, Nicholas Grace, Hunter Gade, Ashley (Matt) Wacholz, Wyatt & Zachery Paulsen; great grandchildren Ava and Mason Wacholz. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and brother Les Wackher. Elaine had a funny, outgoing, caring, inspiring soul- she will be greatly missed. Blessed be her memory!
