Dennis Charles Olson passed away Friday, June 6th at 95 years old.
Dennis was born in Wells, Minnesota on December 27th, 1929. He was adopted by Les and Clara Reeder of Glenville, and was raised on their farm with their other adopted son Steve. Dennis married Rose Galvan on December 13th 1957, and they made Albert Lea their home. Dennis worked hard so they could retire early, at just 50 years old, a point he would tell you with pride. The two spent their retirement travelling, visiting all over the Southwest. They continued to summer in Albert Lea, but would "fly" south to Apache Junction, Arizona during the winter months.
Dennis will be remembered for his fun-loving, cheerful and bright spirit. He loved to dance, to sing, and to make everyone around him just as happy and full of life as he was. He would tell jokes and do impressions; anything to make someone laugh and feel welcome.
Dennis found a love of golf, as well as caring for his lawn and walkway. He had special outfits for caring for his property, to make sure he didn't get sunburnt in the summer or too cold in the winter. He maintained his lawn and walkways until he was 93, shoveling and mowing constantly to make sure his home looked as inviting as he was. When he wasn't out on the green, or tending to his own, he would be at home playing records. A regular feature in the Olson household was "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole, but really anything by Nat would do. Their family has many memories of watching Dennis sing and dance for his Rosie.
Dennis' memory with be carried on by a host of family and friends alike. Although Dennis is gone, his legacy of kindness, humor, and love will live on in the memories of all who knew him and the joy he spread.
