David Charles Steele, 76, of Albert Lea, MN passed away at his home on May 16, 2023.

David was born on February 9, 1947 in Albert Lea, MN to Raymond and Carmen (Allen) Steele.  He was raised on the farm where as a young boy he enjoyed helping out with the chores.  As a teen, David was creative and talented as a cartoonist; drawing an array of characters.  He graduated from Albert Lea High School and following graduation, he entered the US Army.  Following his service, he returned home to Albert Lea. Shortly after his return he moved to New Hampshire and was wed to Kathy Flynn and together, they raised two boys, Derek and Jason; they later divorced. While in New Hampshire, David worked as a foreman for the New England Telephone Company.  He enjoyed visits from his Minnesota family and was able to be the tour guide for their visits and fed them all the wonderful foods from the New England area.  After an injury he sustained at his job as foreman, David returned back to Albert Lea, MN.

David was a tidy man who liked to keep his yard looking nice and his truck spotless and shiny.  He was also crafty and spent many hours enjoying needlework.  David adored his family and he never forgot to send them cards for the holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries.   His kindness and bright smile will be missed by all those who loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Derek (Kim) Steele and Jason Steele; grandson, Aiden Steele; mother, Carmen Steele; brothers, Ronnie (Mary) Steele and Jim (Mary) Steele; along with nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; and brother and sister-in-law, Bruce (Diane) Steele.

A private, family service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea, MN.
