David Olson

David Herman Olson, age 82, passed away on April 30, 2026. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, May 7 at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Service in Albert Lea, MN.

David was born in Austin, MN to Herman and Mary (Miner) Olson on January 30, 1944. He grew up in Austin and Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1962. After his schooling, he began working as a forklift operator at Minnesota Freezer Warehouse. He worked at Minnesota Freezer warehouse for 42 years before working at the Government Center for 15 years before retiring. On October 12, 1996, David was united in marriage to Darla Magnuson. The couple made their home in Albert Lea until the time of David’s death.

David enjoyed playing the drums, and Albert Lea wrestling. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild, and Minnesota Twins fan. In his free time, David liked to lift weights, woodworking, and working in his yard. His greatest love was spending time with his family.

David is survived by his wife of 29 years, Darla; children, Jeff (Lisa) Olson, Michelle (Brian) Bedney, Misty Schroeder, Crystal (Jarret) Pedersen, Jeremiah Olson, Matt Olson, Jennifer Harkner, Brad Olson, Chad Olson; siblings, Joyce Stundahl, Sue (Terry) Smith; 30 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary Olson; daughters, Heather Olson and Denise Olson; sister, Ruth Folie; brother-in law, Everett Stundahl; father-in-law and mother-in -law, Donald and Doris Elaine Magnuson.
