Danny Steele

Danny Lee Steele, 71, of Alden, MN, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic- Methodist Campus with his family by his side.

Born on March 4, 1955, in Albert Lea, MN, Danny was a beloved son of the late Loren and Delores (Hintz) Steele and grew up in Alden, MN. Danny was a proud graduate of Alden-Conger High School, class of 1973. On June 21, 1975, Danny married Susan Seipp at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Together they built a life filled with love and dedication to family. A lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake, Danny served on the cemetery board and fulfilled the role of sexton, demonstrating his commitment to his community. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a farmer and worked for North Country Coop and its predecessors for 46 years. His passion for agriculture was evident in his enjoyment of working the land, particularly growing corn and soybeans, and he took great pride in cultivating his beautiful gladiolas. Danny also served as Superintendent of Floral Hall at the Freeborn County Fair, where he shared his love for gardening with others. Beyond his work, Danny found joy in fishing and hunting, spending precious moments in nature. Growing up, Danny was active in the 4-H and FFA programs. As his children grew up, he was active in supporting his boys and later grandchildren in the same activities. He was a dedicated family man whose love and guidance will be deeply missed. Those left to cherish Danny’s memory include his two sons, Ryan (Kari) Steele of Utica, Chad (Stephanie) Steele of Plymouth; grandchildren, Kaylee, Tyler, Jacob and Madelyn; sisters, Lori (Ron) Fenney and Cindy Carlson; brothers-in-law, Steve Seipp and Scott (Tracy Ermer) Seipp; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sue Steele; parents, Loren and Delores Steele; brother, Steven Steele; parents-in-law, Verle and Marlene Seipp; and a sister-in-law, Val Seipp.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Church-Pickerel Lake, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM. The family will also receive friends at a visitation to be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services in Albert Lea.
