Cheryl L. Christensen

Cheryl was born on November 29, 1954, in Wells, MN, the beloved daughter of Gene and Selma Engebretson. She spent over 35 dedicated years working at Minnesota Corrugated Box in Albert Lea before retiring in 2019.

A creative soul, Cheryl was a talented crafter and seamstress who lovingly sewed her own wedding dress and bridal party gowns for her marriage to Jay "Buck" Christensen at the Rock Garden in Albert Lea in 1995. Cheryl's passions included tending to her flower gardens, cooking (especially her famous cheesy carrots), riding as passenger on Harley motorcycles, and relaxing on the lakes of Northern Minnesota. She was also a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan.

Cheryl found great joy in supporting her daughter Krista through years of dance competitions, always side by side with her sister and best friend, Diane. Her playful sense of humor, fondness for harmless pranks, and loving teasing of her "fat boys" will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was also a proud and devoted dog mom, having shared her life with her beloved pups Frank, Lucy, Maggie, Mortis, and Marshall.

Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her mother Selma Engebretson; husband Jay (Buck) Christensen; daughter Krista Stillings; brother Lance (Debbie) Engebretson; sisters Diane Gordon and Kathy (Danny) DeBoer; nephews Jace (Lacey) and Bryce (Allison) DeBoer; niece Toni (Eli) Dyvig; great-nephews and -niece; and extended family including Rodney "Spoony" (Sandy) Christensen, Julie Christensen, Janice (Mark), and several additional nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Engebretson, and her nephew and "son", Dillon Gordon.

Cheryl unexpectedly passed away on June 11th at Mayo Hospital in Austin, surrounded by her loving family.

The memory of Cheryl's fun-loving spirit, fierce loyalty, and kind heart will remain with all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life for Cheryl L. Christensen will be held on Wednesday, June 18th from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
