Charles Duane Loken

Charles Duane Loken, of Walters, MN, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on July 2, 1939, in Emmons, MN, Charles was the son of the late Lewis and Alice(Johnson) Loken.

Growing up in Emmons, Charles attended the local country school before graduating from Emmons High School. He was a baptized and confirmed member of Emmons Lutheran Church.

In April 1963, Charles answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army. He proudly served in Norway during his term of enlistment, contributing to the nation's defense. Charles was honorably discharged in January 1965, returning home with a great sense of pride and gratitude for his service.  After his military service, Charles purchased his home farm near Walters, MN, and worked to cultivate the land and raise and milk cows.

Charles shared a special bond with his brother, Clair, and they were inseparable partners in their farming endeavors. Together, they spent countless hours tending to the fields, caring for the livestock, and going to auctions. Charles had a keen eye for collecting all sorts of items, whether it be antiques, machinery, or other unique pieces.

Charles will be forever remembered by his sister, Phyllis (Maynard) Erickson, nieces and nephews, Marcus (Tracy) Erickson, Perry (Lisa) Erickson, Angela (Jessup) DeCook, and Anne Bluin; along with many grand-nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy (Lawrence) Scott; brother, Clair Loken; nephew, Brian Scott; and several cousins.

A memorial service for Charles will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services in Albert Lea, MN with a visitation a half hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Emmons, MN
