Beverly Jean Haugen, 89, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on February 27, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Bev was born June 7,1936, in Red Wing, Minnesota, to George and Dorothy (Robinson) Ohs and was raised in Randolph, graduating in 1954. During her youth she worked in her grandfather's and parents' general store, where she learned the value of hard work and community. Music filled her childhood home; her father played piano and organ while Bev played saxophone, and together they earned "A" ratings in University of Minnesota competitions. The early loss of her infant brother, Bradley George Ohs, deeply shaped her compassionate and caring spirit.
She attended Mankato State University, earning her Registered Nurse (R.N.) and Bachelor of Science degree in 1958. That October she married Llewellyn (Lou) Lundell.
Bev began her nursing career at Immanuel Hospital in Mankato, later working at Fairview Pediatrics in Minneapolis before serving as a private duty Nurse in Litchfield, Minnesota. After relocating to Albert Lea in 1966, she worked at Naeve Hospital before later joining Albert Lea Clinic West, where she served alongside surgeons for 26½ years. She retired in 1998 after a long and meaningful career devoted to caring for others, all while raising four children and managing a busy household with grace and energy. Everyone recognized Bev as a Nurse, and she was always willing to help -whether volunteering to take blood pressures at the mall or answering calls from neighbors and friends. She consistently made herself available to the needs of others.
In 1985, Bev married Dennis Haugen. Together they enjoyed traveling, dancing, biking, playing cards, and spending winters at their home in Topock (Golden Shores), Arizona. Bev cherished time with family and friends, quilting keepsakes for her grandchildren and expressing constant gratitude for her many blessings.
Faith was central to Bev's life. Baptized and confirmed in Randolph, she later became a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as President of Presbyterian Women for 13 years, singing in the choir, and serving as an Elder, visiting deacon, and Christian Education volunteer. She also volunteered at the Ecumenical Food Pantry.
Bev was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron (1998-1999) and later as Grand Representative of Minnesota to Rhode Island (2002-2004). She also served on the Board of Civic Music and was a member of A.A.U.W. and the Red Hat Society.
Bev is survived by her husband, Dennis Haugen; her children: Jean Lundell (Steven Pumper) of Plano, Texas; Carol Marie (Jim) Pratt of Duluth; Steven George (Amy) Lundell of Albert Lea; and Eric Daniel Lundell of Albert Lea. She is also survived by Dennis's children: Brad (Cindy) Haugen of Hayward; Michael (Claudia) Haugen of Minneapolis; Pat (Tom) Wright of Minneapolis; and Jodie Haugen of Edina.
She was a proud grandmother to Zachary (Emily) and Nicholas (Meg) Pumper; Melissa (Ben) Blaeser and Nathan (Brooke) Pratt; Kaitlin, Thomas, and Annabelle Lundell; Nic Gaines and Ben Haugen; Simone, Matthew, and Sarah Haugen; and Alex (Hailey) Wright, Emma (Frankie Frank) Wright, and Kate Wright. She was blessed with great-grandchildren Bodi, Zella, and Banks Blaeser; Margo and Miller Pratt; Walker and Harper Wright.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant brother, Bradley George Ohs; her first husband, Lou Lundell.
She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, a dedicated Wife and a compassionate friend who touched the many hearts of those around her, with generosity and kindness.
She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, compassionate spirit, joyful love of music and dancing, and unwavering devotion to her family - a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Above all, Beverly Jean treasured time spent with family and friends and found her greatest peace in the boundless love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our Family would like to thank all the staff and services at Good Sam's and St. Croix Hospice for the compassion and loving care they gave our mother and family.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A cemetery service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, at Lakeside Cemetery in Randolph, Minnesota.
