Beverly, 79 passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN on April 10th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Bev was born in Albert Lea, MN on January 19th, 1944 to Robert and Alice (Ingamells) Butters. Bev attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1962.
On July 14, 1962, Bev married her high school sweetheart, Roger Thompson at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She worked as a clerk at Northpark in Albert Lea and later worked at the Owatonna Hospital in Registration. Bev enjoyed volunteering for many years with the girl scouts and was the Sunday school superintendent at North Freeborn Lutheran Church. Organizing the ALHS 1962 class reunions was one of her favorite things to do. She loved to travel and go shopping with her girls and she and Roger enjoyed many trips to Duluth, their favorite destination. Bev never missed an opportunity to watch and support her grandchildren at their sporting events; she was their biggest cheerleader. She adored her grandchildren and spoiled them every chance she got. Bev touched the lives of every person she met and always greeted everybody with a smile. Everybody loved little Grandma Bev; her bright smile and loving heart will be greatly missed.
Bev is survived by her husband Roger, children, Jeff Thompson, Michelle (Brad) Romer, Christine (Darren) Hanson. Grandchildren, Brandon (Jordyn) Antl, Dillon (Jill) Hanson, Jarred (Tara) Hanson, Kennedy (Zac Koutek) Thompson, Kaylee (Kevin) Kalis, Zach (Alison Wangen) Romer, Alex (Megan Schulte) Romer, McKenzie (Jessie Vazquez) Romer. Great grandchildren, Clinton Hanson, Drake and Malachi Hanson, & Myra Koutek. Brother Robert Butters, sister Darlene Butters, brother-in-law Curtis Rietveld and brother-in-law Gary (Ginny) Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alice Butters, her in-laws Adrian and Alice Thompson, and sister JoAnn Rietveld.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services in Albert Lea, MN; Steve Piper will officiate. Bev’s family will greet guests two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
